Incredible Assistance: Health Fair
Last week, the LETU Solheim Center was packed to the brim with health-conscious Texans and their families. Health care professionals from around East Texas tested hearing, drew blood for lipid and glucose screenings, performed kidney function analyses, tested vision and offered health advice. And all of it was free.
"The Health Fair is a great way to let the community know what Health Services are available," says Kim Durham, who helped organize this year's health fair. "Some of our vendors this year said that they were able to educate more people this year than before about the services they provide."
This year's Get it Together Health Fair hosted approximately 1100 visitors and held over seventy booths for local businesses and health care providers.
"Good Shepherd Medical Center and The Kidney Trust performed lab tests that can end up costing people over $100," says Durham. "That in itself is a great service to each of the communities we are serving. And, of course, we host the Health Fair because we hope to glorify and honor the Lord in all we do both at LeTourneau University and in the community in which we live and work."
Some of this year's most popular services included the Good Shepherd Medical Center Lab and clinics, The Kidney Trust, Walmart Vision Center, and the Longview Foot Clinic (Dr. I.E. Willis), but we want to extend thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who gave of their time and resources to provide these much-needed services to the Longview community.
